Discover a wealth of knowledge with "TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award" winning site, DiscoverySchool.com, a free education website and BJ Pinchbeck’s Homework Helper for grades 1–12.
DiscoverySchool.com is a good educational resource; however, without a navigation window, students can easily get lost exploring search links and customer support is difficult to contact.
DiscoverySchool.com, sponsored by Discovery Education channel has a large subject database, lessons and tutorials, games, quizzes and teacher resources. Many of the online resources that will help students with their homework are in BJ Pinchbeck’s Homework Helper, which contains more than 700 educational websites. Students can find help for math, science, writing/composition, social studies, foreign languages, art and music.
Students can also choose from five different study and school project aids: Brain Boosters are fun activities that develop students’ spatial awareness, logical thinking, reasoning skills and math skills. Science Fair Central and Study Starters provide ideas and sample experiments for science fair projects or reports. Clip Art Gallery and Puzzlemaker are resources students can purchase to help with their school projects.
The site is relatively easy to use; students just click on the resource links to find the information they need. However, it would be more helpful to students if the lessons, activities and other online resources were sorted by grade level. In addition, there is not a home page link to DiscoverySchool.com, so as students are searching the online resources, it may take some time clicking the back button to get back to DiscoverySchool.com’s home page.
There is nothing to install or setup because DiscoverySchool.com is a free service.
Students can contact DiscoverySchool.com or PJ Pinchbeck by email, but because this is a free site, don’t expect quick answers. We could only find a feedback link from Discovery.com’s homepage to submit a few questions; they sent us a form letter. PJ Pinchbeck is an individual who answers all his own email—if you get through, it may take some time for a response.
DiscoverySchool.com is a free homework help service for grades 1–12 with plenty of lessons, learning activities and online resources in math, science, social studies, foreign languages, art and music. There are also several resources for teachers, but because it is a free site, don’t expect too much from help/support.
